Rika placed her things on the ground except for one book witch she opened and showed to Hiei. "This spell here is simple. Blasts of fire, I like calling them 'Fire Bolts'." Rika said pointing to a spell in her book, "Just extend your arm in front of you with your palm facing out and say, 'ferocimay, ocoro'!" A giant blast of red fire came rushing from Rika's hand, burning all trees that stood there. She stopped, "Now you." Hiei extended his arm in front of him with his palm out, "Ferocimay, ocoro..." he said. The same thing happened that happened when Rika showed him. "NOW DEPLEAT YOUR ENERGY FROM THE BLAST!" Rika yelled over the noisy blast. Hiei did so and the fire disappeared. Rika's eyebrows raised to her surprise, "good.....I didn't expect the first spell you did to perform that well. Guess that's what I get for underestimating you..." Rika said hesitantly.
She turned into her book again. "I can tell from the first attack fire is too easy for you.....Let's go to..............." She shifted through the book, "Earth...............I should wait until you learn levitation...." She shifted through the book again. Hiei had an ignorant look upon his face, Rika noticed but ignored it. "Water. First we need to find a source." Rika said finally. "Follow me." Hiei said walking to the forest. He lead her to a beautiful water fall scene with a small, yet deep pool of water ending where the waterfall fell to. The atmosphere seemed to have a bluish glow in the air. It looked so beautiful. "How did you find such a marvelous place?" Rika asked looking around the area. "While wandering around here. "Hiei answered. Rika picked up her book from the ground, and looked through it. She handed it to Hiei, "Let's see how well you do in this." She said. Hiei chose a spell and read it. He put out his arm again, but his palm facing the water, "Wasdose, eshion, soreth." The water in the pool flown up in the air in strange patterns. Rika nodded to Hiei. They next went to a smoldering lava pit. There were two lava pits on sides of a narrow path. Hiei's objective was to stop plants that Rika made coming at him. He needed to use the lava to burn them. "Estasion, laseros, porsta!" Hiei shouted and plants rushed at him. Lava rose from the pits at the plants and burned them. Rika had a smirk on her face. They went to the forest once more. Rika showed him an attack to control plants. "Masiar, plantoso, conseral." Thorn plants rose from the ground, wrapped around Hiei's arms and took over the entire forest in front of him. Everything was covered in thorn plants. They moved a large open meadow. It's was a little windy. "Windgardious, sortineth." a large gust of wind blew from Hiei's hands knocking everything in sight. (witch wasn't much since they're in a meadow.)
A week passed and Hiei learned more. Rika took him to a large rocky area. Hiei glowed and ora around himself. Rocks slowly rose from the earth, Hiei rose his head to the sky and the rocks quickly flew into the air. They collided and burst. A small smile came to Rika's and Hiei's faces. "I never expected you to be this good so quickly..." Rika said "You shouldn't underestimate me remember?" Hiei said with a hit of happiness in his voice. "You've learned Fire, Water, Wind, Plant, Earth, and Levitation in little more then a week. I'm very impressed." Rika said. (Hiei knows more techniques for the elements btw) Later that night Hiei and Rika returned to the tower after training a bit more. Rika returned to her room, but Hiei sat in the window sill in the living area again. The group stared at him with confusion. Kurama broke the silence. "Hiei.......uh....." "go ahead, go ahead" Yuniko whispered to Kurama. "So, your learning spell?" Kurama asked. Hiei turned to him, "How did you know?" "Haha...well I kinda followed you and Rika the past few days...." Kuwabara said. A wicked smile came to Hiei's face. Kuwabara had a nervous look on his face, "Well we were so curious that I volunteered to go check out what you were up to." "We drew straws and he lost. He cowered and spied instead of asked." Yusuke interrupted. "URAMESHI!" Kuwabara shouted. "Well.....I strongly suggest you don't do it again!" Hiei's eyes glowed and Kuwabara was quickly lifted into the air and thrown to the back wall. The others ran to him as he slid to the floor. Hiei wickedly laughed as he walked to his room. The others stared.
By morning Rika had left. Hiei was still sleeping in his room. He was quite tired from yesterday. Rika stood at the cliff. The wind blew calmly as she stared out to the sea with a curious yet concerned look. Again she felt something, but it wasn't like before. Before she was happy, now she was....worried. "Something's surfaced...." She whispered to her self. Then a very uneasy feeling came to her. Just as she turned to walk away, the earth crumbled beneath her feet. Rika fell to the beach below the ridge with the boulders. She opened her eyes and looked to the ridge that she had been standing on. Then she stood and looked around her. She saw nothing. Nor did she know what cased to ridge to fall. She sighed angrily and headed to the forest. By the time she got there Hiei had woken up and headed outside. Rika came to the meadow. She stood in the middle as a familiar wind blew again. Her eyes wandered, scanning the area around her. She stepped to the side. As she did so, something flew by quickly and cut her cheek. Rika's eyes widened. She turned and looked around her. She saw nothing. Then she decided to head for the tower. She believed that if she hadn't moved at that second, whatever cut her cheek, was probably aiming for her head. Just as she turned around she saw a small throwing knife stuck in the ground. It had a red tassel on it, hanging from the tiny handle. She picked it up and studied it. She ran her finger gently against the edge. When she looked at her finger, it was cut, even though she barely touched the thing. "Rika?" A voice said curiously from behind her. She turned quickly to find Hiei there. "Oh...Hiei...it's just you..." She said with a sigh of relief and hesitation in her voice. Rika hid the knife behind her so he wouldn't see it, even though he tried to. "Something.......wrong?" He asked. Rika hesitated a moment, "No, nothing." She answered with a calm, yet fearful voice. "Are we going to train or......." Hiei asked. "Oh, yeah. But I'd better go get my books." She said stepping to the side a bit. "What me to come with you?" Hiei asked "NO! I mean...just wait here..." She said. Then she turned, hiding the knife still, and ran for the tower. Hiei tilted his head to the side, "She acting weird....I'd better follow her." Hiei said as he walked in Rika's direction. Hiei followed from the trees as Rika ran from the ground, unaware that Hiei was right there. She opened her hands to see them bloody from the knife. "Whoa! What happened there!?" Hiei thought. Rika winced. She ran to the tower and strait to her room. Once Hiei saw her go in the tower he headed back to the meadow. When Rika got to her room she placed the knife on the desk and cleaned herself up with some healing potions so Hiei wouldn't ask what happened to her. Rika returned to him with one book. "Let's go to Levitation." Rika said opening the book up and showing Hiei. Hiei saw a different spell that attracted his attention. "Morph?" Hiei questioned. Rika looked. "Oh...that spell.....uh that one is for higher level spell casters. I'm afraid your still an Upper-D class spell caster..." Rika said hesitantly because she knows how Hiei hates being underestimated. Hiei frowned. "Well.......what is it anyway?" Hiei asked. "This spell allows the spell caster to transform into one animal. But, when you use the spell for the first time, you need to choose that animal then because you can't transform into any other once you've chosen. I picked a wolf." Rika said. "So you’re an upper class spell caster?" Hiei asked with an annoyed look upon his face. "I spent half my life in solitude! What did you think I did besides train with my powers? I learned spells. Over that time I got Spell books and trained, and I got very strong in a short time considering how long it normally takes usual spell casters to achieve high levels." Rika answered in a somewhat cocky way. "So what class are you?" Hiei asked bluntly. Rika hesitated,".........A-class........" "What class do you need to be in to perform the spell?" Hiei asked again. "At least........B-class." She said. "Let's just continue!" He said. "Arrogant." Rika whispered. "I heard that!" Hiei said out load. Rika frowned in an annoyed way. They spent the rest of the day going over new techniques for the elemental spells. But pranked each other a lot. That evening it rained. Hiei went to the tower, but Rika went to the woods. Hiei didn't have a good feeling as he sat in the window sill to the living area. The others played cards. "I wonder where Rika is. She shouldn't be out in the rain." Yuniko said. "Not to worry, Yuniko. Rika can take care of herself. Trust me" Kurama smiled to his girlfriend.
Hiei's feeling grew worse. He decided not to let anything else happen today and vanished from the sill. He took an umbrella with him as he did so. Rika wandered through the forest, she had an uneasy feeling. Then as she walked on a path through the forest, something grabbed her ankle and she fell.
